Here are some incidents that have recently occurred in Darby but the Mayor and
Council have not released the information:

11-20-11 - Shots fired at 9th & Forrester Avenue - no one injured (that we know
of) but possibly over 30 shell casings were found.

10-25-11 - Sharon Bank - attempted robbery


September - 7-11 - robbed at gunpoint
                   Several car thefts in Lansdowne Park
May to September
                   Home invasions - Burglaries - 2 to 3 per day




DAILY BLOTTER for WEEK of  Sept 19, 2010 to Sept  25, 2010


On 09/20/2010 at 10:12 a.m. a resident made a report that they discovered their
vehicle stolen. The vehicle was a 1999 Ford Expedition and was taken sometime
between 10:00 p.m. on the 19th and 4:00a.m., on the 20th. The vehicle was
parked in the area of 3rd and Fern St. Police notified Del-Com and a broadcast
alert was put out over the area.

On 09/20/2010 at 6:00p.m., an adult female Darby resident was arrested for
simple assault for striking two juvenile females on the 100 block of N. 9th St.
The assault was a result of the juveniles involvement in an earlier fight with a
family member of the adult charged. The juveniles didn’t receive any injuries.

On 09/21/2010 at approximately 9:45 p.m., a Darby man was arrested for
punching a juvenile in the face on the 200 block of Weymouth Rd. The man
stated that he was advised by a lady friend that her ex-boyfriend was coming
over to break into her car. The man stated when the ex-boyfriend drove up in a
car with another man; he punched the driver in the face thinking it was the ex-
boyfriend. Subsequently, the driver was found to be a relative of the ex-
boyfriend. The juvenile sustained minor injuries to his face.

On 09/23/2010 at 8:59p.m., a warrant for arrest was processed for a Darby man
who assaulted his child’s mother. The man got into an argument with the woman
and then proceeded to push her to the ground and then punch her in the face.
The women sustained facial injuries. The male fled the scene upon the officers’
arrival.

On 09/24/2010 at 4:20 a.m., a female Darby resident was arrested for suspicion
of driving under the influence. The female was operating her vehicle on the Unit
block of S. 6th St. when she struck a legally- parked vehicle. Upon police arrival,
they detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the female’s person,
blood shot eyes and she spoke with slurred speech. The female advised officers
that she had been drinking. No injuries were reported and the legally parked
vehicle sustained moderate damages.

On 09/24/2010 at approximately 9:05p.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block
of Berbro St. for an assault not in progress. On arrival, police made contact with
a victim who stated four people who he knows just assaulted him and took his
wallet. He stated the attackers were two males and two females. One of the
males approached him with a gun in his hand and threatened him about a
previous altercation. The male proceeded to strike the victim in the head with
the gun, upon falling another one in the group started choking the victim and
the others proceeded to punch him. During that time, one of the attackers
reached into his pocket and stole his wallet. The attackers were last seen fleeing
into a house on the 300 block of Berbro St. The Southeast regional tactical team
responded because of the nature of the assault and subsequently the four
suspects were apprehended without incident. The four were charged with armed
robbery, aggravated assault and other related charges.

On 09/25/2010 at 2:49 a.m., police were dispatched to 731 Main St., 7-11 Store,
for a silent hold up alarm. On arrival, a store employee met the officers in front
of the store and stated the store had just been robbed. Police advised Del-Com
and gave a description of the actor, a black male, approximately 5’5” – 5’8”,
wearing a gray hoodie, blue bandanna over his face, jeans and a hat. He was last
seen fleeing on foot to the rear of the building towards Darby Terrace. The clerk
stated that the actor came into the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and
demanded “all the money.” The actor came around the counter, grabbed the
money out of the drawer and fled. A witness stated they observed the actor
moments before the robbery pacing on the 700 block of Darby Terrace and then
several minutes later he was observed running up the rear steps of the 7-11
towards Darby Terrace. No injuries were reported and approximately $70.00 was
taken.
